  1. Do you have a photo of a public meeting featuring angry senior citizens, ideally about a public transit issue? Anyone who follows transit debates with a camera probably has one. Needed for an article. Pls DM me.

  3. Los Angeles: Has anyone seen a detailed report explaining the NextGen redesign? I can find slides and a very cursory board report, but where's the more through explanation for people who are curious? This is critical to building support.

The sad joke about is we have centuries of it! And solid data about the effects. But we love the romance of transcendence, that *now* this thing will escape history. The Wright brothers thought airplanes would end war. The romance of new tech always has blind spots.

One can always poke holes in traffic analysis and travel forecasting. It's a glass ball of bullshit. A more interesting opposition would be asking, "is knowingly accommodating or promoting an increase in motor vehicle traffic ethical?"

What's missing from Portland's upcoming ballot measure? Funding to increase bus service. "We need to change policies to actually achieve reduction in greenhouse gas emissions coming from driving. We won't succeed unless there's a whole lot more buses."

The idea in the Bloomberg transportation plan that everyone else should steal is the annual $12 billion for transit operations. That's the fastest way to improve service for transit riders and make transit a useful travel option for more Americans.
