I like that she keeps the responsibility for her happiness on herself; not others. It's not her kids' or grandkids' job to make her feel fulfilled. It's hers & she knows it. Fantastic!

Idleness =/= Retirement Retirement can mean more time/money to do the hobbies/dreams one had suspended throughout the years s/he'd been busy raising a fam. Ofc we're talking abt a typical middle-class here

Agreed. The common link between what she's describing and what you're describing is having a plan going into "retirement". A lot of retirees become disillusioned when the plan is a nebulous play/do nothing/ relax.
