What the CO did was wrong, but it seems arrogant for him to compare himself and the desire to watch a basketball game to the likes of Rosa Parks and women fighting for the right to vote.

I don’t see it as being about the basketball. I think it’s more of a symbolic act of resisting the poor treatment of people who are incarcerated. It might seem trivial, but it’s a way of affirming that they are worthy of respect and having promises kept.

Says a lot about the character of the CO. The spirit of an agreement should always be respected or never make them in the first place. The prison officials just lost a lifetime chance to earn the respect of their prisoners.
