How sad. He trusted his uncle, was given no cause to not feel that way. And rather than teach him to stand on his own & provide for himself the uncle cruelly cut him off when he met a woman. He shouldn’t have stolen, but he doesn’t owe the uncle an apology.

You forgot the part where he mentioned stealing.

What your uncle did was not ok. Regardless of wether he wanted you to be stronger, there are loving, compassionate ways of doing so. I think is so strong and wise of you to see it that way, though. It speaks loud and clear of the size and quality of your heart. Good luck in life

Agree. There's so many ways of helping someone grow that are not cutting them out of their life. However, maybe his uncle could have other reasons for doing that. Hopefully their meeting will help clarifying it as well as having good moments with each other again.

This amount of self-introspective is heart warming. To realize your wrongs, ask for forgiveness and most importantly, forgiving yourself. It screams a peaceful heart.

He wasn't too old to be depending on him. He was fifteen! He shouldn't have stolen but I think if his uncle was a good person, he wouldn't have put his "son" in a position where he was so desperate that he resorted to extreme measures.

There are better ways to "make him a man" that aren't starving him and not giving him clothes. I hope this man realizes the guilt should not be entirely on him. No trur parent should ever chase their child out of the home for stealing. Especially since he had never done it before
