Yeah my girlfriend is black and speaks Mandarin, she’s spent something like 5 months in China and she said every day in China felt much safer than the US. She said the only racism she faced there personally were people that fetishized her.

Thats true, sometimes I felt fetishzed. People would come up to me and say I was pretty and ask for a picture with me. Really creepy but that was a small minority and i never felt in danger. It would just be kinda silly to me. Much better than being around American creeps.
-
She said a lot of times she’d be somewhere where they had never seen a black person before and they’d get excited to see her and want a picture with her. But yeah she said she never felt in danger, and thought they simply didn’t know any better
-
Haha yeah people would get super excited

il never get over that, i felt like a celebrity sometimes -
Lol yeah that’s exactly what she said, funny how similar your experiences were

Is there anti-blackness in China? Among some, yes. Racism exists in all societies. But the USA was built on a violent hatred of black people, where their torture and murder was not only tolerated, but encouraged. China has no such history.
-
I wanna add that racism in China is mostly rooted in curiosity and ignorance, rather than blatant hatred like here in the US. No one’s safe from white media brainwashing. Most Chinese ppl, especially the patriotic ones, become woke easily if you show them enough counter narratives

obviously anecdotal but I had a labmate basically say the same thing of his time in China and that he'd love to live there permanently

Living in China would be heaven compared to here

And same for India. It is much, much worse than China for women - in every conceivable way. But hey, at least it's a "democracy" with "human rights" and "freedom", right?

If you feel safer in China as a black woman that just puts into perspective how shitty the States are
-
Or maybe China isnt as bad as your media says
