Yes you *could* do this anywhere on earth right now. But, where would be the better choice? A city where most everyone is unarmed and you know nothing will be done about it, or a city where everyone is likely armed and you will be caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent?

It's not that simple. Shrinkage leads to higher operating costs & higher prices. If a pharmacy experiences so much theft that it can no longer operate at a profit, then it has to close -- & when neighborhoods no longer have groceries & pharmacies, it puts human lives in jeopardy.

So you don't understand how insurance operates (or for that matter, how businesses operate), and you've given no thought at all about what residents of a neighborhood will do when widespread theft puts their groceries & pharmacies out of business.

The OP tells you that this is a Walgreens in San Francisco. If you look up the exact location, you'll find it's a few blocks from City Hall. Over the past 5 years, shoplifting has forced Walgreens to close 17 stores in San Francisco.http://www.sfchronicle.com/local-politics/article/Out-of-control-Organized-crime-drives-S-F-16175755.php …
