"We are told that it’s not our guns ... that would be taken away, but those of the bad guys. But when those advocating bans don’t even understand the mechanics and basic terminology of guns, it doesn’t inspire confidence."https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/05/opinion/mom-gun-safety-intruder.html …

Analogy time. Your not taking away my car or my drivers license because some one else drives drunk and kills people. Cuz that makes total sense to punish people who don’t drink and drive. And guess what. Some people don’t drink at all. I hope I don’t need to translate analogy.

I can understand that perfectly fine, but thx for the offer
What you're not including is the scale of harm. Guns are specifically designed to harm, not to transport people. They are easy to carry & easy to get your hands on, so easier to "scale up" when violence escalates. -
What is fires design? What is fires purpose ? To cook. Burn wood. It can warm or it can destroy. The problem is with humans. It always has been. And we don’t punish the none problematic ones. That’s when you unbalance and tips the “scales”
-
Again, apples & oranges. Fire has multiple uses, not specifically designed to kill, guns are. Fire is nowhere near as efficient as guns in terms of speed & targeted killings. (And we do have plenty of sensible fire & arson laws). Scale of harm.
-
We also have laws against murdering people
-
You keep missing my point. Saying "its not about the tools, its the people" conveniently ignores the fact that guns are uniquely alone & a huge outlier in the category of "tools with potential for misuse & harm". Especially with modern guns like AR15. And they are single purpose.
-
Why is having a right to defend yourself and the tools to do so bother you. Someone who believes in freedom with crypto certainly hates freedom in real life.
-
I don’t “hate freedom in real life.” I do cost-benefit analysis with everything. Not all tools are created equal, just like not all blockchains are created equal (I’m against ETH for many reasons), although from the POV of the casual observer it might appear they are the same.
