Still don't understand the point. Honestly, Monero probably has a larger community and at least has more innovation with ring signatures. The best thing Litecoin has going for it is it's on Coinbase where newcomers sign up.

litecoin's codebase is nearly identical to bitcoin's and also got segwit before bitcoin. will probably get Confidential Transactions before Bitcoin too. Monero's privacy tech is cool.

What makes you think it will get anything else before bitcoin? For segwit, miners stop blocking it faster on ltc (because charLee promised a hf later and miners believed him), that's all.

my thinking is that for BTC block space is such a scare resource that anything that requires more of it, such as CT, will negatively impact fees & scaling. For LTC it’s less of a problem.

because 1) LTC has more block space to begin with and 2) LTC can make security tradeoffs that BTC might not be able to

for these reasons and also with a much smaller community, LTC might be able to adopt certain techs faster than BTC.

As said main reason for low fees in altcoins it the lavk of usage.

My point is that precisely because of high usage and higher fees, the idea of integrating CT can be more contentious in BTC, so it will be slower to build consensus & adopt. (To your question about what can possibly make LTC get anything else before BTC).

More broadly speaking, any new tech that is contentious to integrate, LTC can lead the way and take the risks of adopting it first. In doing this it will 1) debunk the FUD and 2) show the fair market value of such an adoption, which will pave the way for adoption on BTC. Win-win.

Like you pointed out though, there is a chance that the tech is NOT adopted on BTC eventually. Then at that point LTC will have to put more resources into maintaining its own branch. That is a risk that LTC has to take, and maybe at some point the path will inevitably split.
