This does seem to be a powerful argument for multiple implementations. Core chose one set of risks, Bcoin chose another; diversification.

To me it just seems like trading off one problem for another (arguably worse). Maintaining consensus between multiple clients is hard.

IMO somewhat centralized development is a tradeoff we have to make to maintain consensus & security. It can be mitigated by FOSS process.
