But they even explain they went in tangents that ended up not working. It’s a complicated problem. I’m sure if Satoshi was giving early comments about Bitcoin people would have said its too difficult

It doesn't matter how many tangents they go in, because their fundamental assumption is outright incorrect. That's exactly what spawns a bunch of complexity down at the other layers: starting from a wrong/weak assumption.
