@TheBlueMatt's brilliant proposal that separates 1/ block construction process from 2/ payout process. You'll still get the benefit of connecting to a pool (stable payouts) while not conceding the right to propose a block. Best of both worlds solution that will help d14n.

This is really fascinating! I would love to hear what
@slushcz (& team),@ckpooldev and@james_hilliard think about the proposal. -
Unfortunately you'll be bitterly disappointed by the lack of response to this from both the client and server end in terms of adoption.
-
CK, have you detailed your response somewhere, maybe on bitcointalk? I'd like to understand better what the experts think of this proposal.
-
No I haven't because I could predict what was going to come of it
. -
I think
@ckpooldev's initial comment was pretty clear - the activation energy required to get the ecosystem to migrate to a new protocol is very nontrivial, so there's a very good shot people looking to adoption will be dissapointed... -
...that said, in the long term, things may be different because minor improvements can win out. Of course predicting the long-term is nigh impossible, so it all remains to be seen. Gotta build it first before we can learn much either way :).

What motivates pools to adopt BetterHash?
-
I don't know how exactly pools operate, but I would think they want to cater to miners' demand
If enough miners want BetterHash, pools would be motivated to change.
Even if they don't change, new pools can always be created. Market competition could take care of the rest. -
What do you think?
-
I think #1 the benefits need to be crystalized into language that resonates with miners #2 miners need to demand it #3 a savvy pool or upstart pool will support it to acquire customers
-
Agreed
