Sad about the FUD that System76 are still spreading about the LVFS and fwupd -- I'm trying to ignore it but it's just 100% untrue. It's also unhelpful when trying to convince other vendors to join the LVFS.https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxhardware/comments/aohc8x/some_system76_hardware_beginning_to_see_coreboot/ …

Put yourself in their shoes. How could there be no way to match the System76-uploaded firmware with the 'firmware that is matched client side' and then downloaded from a single central server!? Which legal entity manages LVFS? If none, why? #my2c

I really don't understand your question at all, sorry. The Linux Foundation is now the legal entity responsible for the LVFS, there's a charter and everything. Legal stuff takes time, but more formal announcements will come soon.

On https://fwupd.org/donations  you admit to counting. Is it so hard to understand System76's worry about you counting *their* downloads? It's a feature you mention on https://fwupd.org/lvfs/docs/privacy … "Firmware Download Log" "provide a download count over time for a specific firmware file." 1/

Copyright isn't required to be reassigned. At this point I don't particularly care if system76 uses the LVFS or fwupd. I want them to stop spreading misinformation about both projects.

the site footer only says 'Copyright Richard Hughes 2015-2018', there's no mention of Linux Foundation. But this is a good solution. Let them handle the operations, you handle the project. Good luck. 2/2
