Should the LVFS notify OEMs that they're shipping old versions of microcode?

FYI, this is what the LVFS now shows for firmware that embeds the shell:

    Well, that escalated quickly...

Does anyone happen to know how to make a GLib program use UTF-8 encoding on Windows 10? It of course works in Linux just fine...

Thanks to Björn Tantau, each device page on the LVFS now has an ATOM feed that can be used with your RSS reader of choice.

There's a good 40,000ft introduction here: -- although it's more focussed on UEFI system firmware. Send an email to the fwupd mailing list and we can try to help.

This is my OSFC 2019 talk, Introducing the Linux Vendor Firmware Service If you have a few minutes it's a really useful high-level view on the entire architecture. Questions and comments welcome!

The LVFS just delivered it's 11 millionth update. We now work with over 90 vendors that have uploaded >2500 firmware files that implemented >25 different flashing protocols. On those files we've run >15k tests, and >30k users have uploaded success/failure reports.

With a lot of help from VIA, fwupd can now install firmware on almost every USB 3.1 hub you don't even know you own. Both protocols are supported (V1 and V2) and updates will be available on the LVFS in due course.

Soon the LVFS is going to be giving extra green ticks to vendors that implement security technologies. On that note, does anyone know how to detect AMD HVB?

If you could run a query easily on 171,016 real EFI binaries from vendor firmware, what would you look for?

I've finished a first draft of my talk introducing the LVFS. I've got too many slides already.

Can you tell when I learned about using cProfile from the "Serious Python" book? Between that book and "Python Tricks" I'm feeling a lot more confident with Python these days. LVFS is also now at 67% coverage which is WIP.

With a lot of help from everyone, I present a.k.a. what really changed in your ME update. This was just run on all 138 existing Intel ME updates on the LVFS and will be run on each future upload. We still don't know what RSTR or HVMP does.

The LVFS has come a long way in a short time. Here's an introduction from a little while ago: -- we have a big vendor announcement next week. Stay tuned!
