When President Obama pioneered selective enforcement of law, media elites applauded. The powers supporting the laws which President Obama suspended —the immigration and border laws— are as “fundamental, constitutionally mandated” as the taxing and spending powers. It will be revealing to see which reporters/platforms attempt to distinguish between the powers. 2
Point being: It’s not possible to do so. If an editorial outlet condemns @realDonaldTrump action but was silent on the President Obama’s DACA and DAPA, they are engaging in rank hypocrisy. The reverse isn’t true b/c @POTUS is relying on a precedent that hasn’t been overturned. 3
So if you are reading or hearing outrage over @realDonaldTrump “unilateral and unprecedented executive actions,” understand the writer or speaker is either ignorant or deceitful. Good argument to be had on whether President Obama should have opened this door, but he did. 4
Ahh, the old "a President I don't like did it and against which I fought - fought! - to save the Republic" standard for which Conservative Entertainment is so famous. Also, too, not even remotely similar.
Trump's really boxed the Dems in...they could sue to try to undo the measures he signed in the executive orders but then they'd look heartless :)
If he ever wanted to drain the swamp, and actually do it, this would be the way. Long-term repercussions, however, would probably be tyrannical in nature
Well, if they sue him, he can just back off and blame them for the people not getting nice things. There's no downside.
