    Government "data" is misleading. No one in government is making any measurements on this. Rather, they are relying on unverified reporting by the oil & gas industry.

    While government data says the oil and gas industry’s emissions of methane are flat, many studies show actual emissions are significantly higher, and may be climbing.

    The only way to be serious about climate change is to move away from all fossil fuels ASAP. Coal is bad. Shale gas is bad. I support a carbon fee, if it is large enough to make a difference, and if methane and CO2 are both included. I also support banning fracking.

    Immediately banning energy sources that provide over half the nation's power is not a serious idea. Pretending to suggest it makes it harder to implement real solutions like carbon pricing.

    And still every day we are told that is the ruminants. What with fracking, leaks, flaring, venting and fertilizer manufacture, it is high time for a thorough reconsideration of methane accounting.

    Flaring & venting of methane continues to increase dramatically in the US. Regulations have failed.
