    SPS has recently concluded missives to acquire a 22 hectare site from National Grid at Provenmill, in the Germiston area of Glasgow. The site acquisition will be conditional upon SPS obtaining planning permission in principle for a new prison to replace HMP Barlinnie. (1)

    Interesting article on how Scottish Executive struggled to manage prison population and poor/deteriorating prison estate conditions (Barlinnie) in 2004. Some issues are still relevant in 2020, amid critical need for decarceration & upholding human rights.
