"How about you answer the question of why NYers cant get housed cause you keep vetoing the plan & telling us you going to house us but you never do?"
He had no answer
Just learned of a home-based child care provider in the Bronx whose rent is being increased 75% from $2000 to $3500. This will effectively evict her *and* eliminate child care for all the families she serves.
We need Good Cause Eviction to prevent things like this.
Carl was a pillar of the movement in NY. His sustained commitment to the struggle for a better world is an immeasurable gift to all of us.

The debate on rent control is so messed up that hardly anyone asks a simple question that should end it: If rent control ultimately drives up rents, then why do landlords and their economist pals spend so much time warning us about something that brings them financial benefits?
