glad to know that our collective need to watch porn anywhere we go rates higher than the need to accurately predict where hurricanes will hit

I'm not convinced that interference is going to be a real issue. 200 MHz is a lot of space, and radar enhancements have continued to reduce noise through successive generations. Plus, isn't a 24 GHz signal going to have very limited range, so weather satellites shouldn't detect?

have you considered that it might be irresponsible to pooh-pooh warnings about critical systems like these, without providing any experimental data to the contrary

I wouldn't mind seeing a proper study on this first but the lowest frequency in 24Ghz being auctioned is a full 450 Mhz above 23.8. I can't imagine even the worst, most negligently designed hardware bleeding anywhere near that bad.

relevant studies are here, my understanding is nasa/noaa is working on further research now. the high sensitivity of the sensors (due to the low energy radiation emitted by water vapor), means that even minimal bleed is enough to fuck things uphttps://twitter.com/housetrotter/status/1131422537387261952 …

if you take a look at the article you’ll note that frequencies above 24 pose their own issuespic.twitter.com/SiOppKI3Yx

Consider this: 5G will grant us immediate access to everyone’s tweets about the weather, thus improving our response time in cases of emergency
