Do I need to read Small Gods first? Wasn't wildly impressed by the first two, ignored people saying they were good until I read the Tiffany books to my kid last year...

I love Discworld but agree that the first two aren't the best. His writing style evolves. Nightwatch is my favourite, Small Gods very good too. The last few he wrote; maybe from Going Postal onwards; have a different feel again more like the Tiffany Aching series.

I was kind of expecting this to be you guys summarising the story, but it was good and substantive. Kieron sounds very gnostic there, saying a god that made all this wouldn't be worth worshipping. Makes me think gnostics are angry catholic atheists who still believe in God.
