Add this to the never ending pile of reasons why we need social housing. When government don't invest in housing as a public good, they are tacitly endorsing the private market and all its inhumane whims.

We posted this link to share info about other social housing movements. We are vehemently anti-sweeps and we will call folks out who support this state sanctioned violence against our neighbors--regardless if they advocate for social housing. Shame on !

Accountability post: we learned from community members that , while serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, was pro-sweeps and succeeded in shutting down a recycling center because unhoused neighbors were using it as a source of income. This is despicable.

Basically, while the long-term funding is incredibly important and we ARE working on a plan, without a staff to manage funds and develop, and a board to hire the staff and oversee the operations, funding can't even be used 4/5

Additionally, it is critical that we focus on ensuring the city does its responsibility in allocating the start-up funds so that the CEO &CFO can be hired. These staff members will be critical in day-to-day operations &without them, moving forward with development won't work 3/5

There is only 1.5 month left until all board appointments must be made! We intentionally gave entities 60 days to ensure that implementation doesn't stall out. A board to manage the SSHD is essential to social housing happening 2/5

As we move towards the start-up funding phase of implementation, we'll need support from you to make sure council allocates the funding during the supplemental budget &doesn't put it off til the fall! The sooner its allocated, the sooner the step of capital funding can begin! 8/8

Once all of the board members have been selected (by April 25th), will call the first meeting of the board (which will have to happen in May). From that point the council will no longer be dealing in SSHD board business. 5/

However, it is important to note that the other appointments going through , , , & Green New Deal Board DON'T have to be approved by the council. These entities have the authority to choose &the city cannot override their decision 4/

The last 3 board members mentioned will be appointed by & in order to have a solid relationship betw the board &city gov't. All social housing developers across the world work in tandem with their municipalities so this relationship is critical 12/

The final board member is a public housing finance professional. We explicitly wrote **public housing** finance to ensure the person has knowledge of public bonding and financial tools only accessible to such public entities. 11/
