    1. I've devoted much of my career to understanding authoritarianism and the breakdown of democracy. And I'm growing increasingly pessimistic about the prospects for American democracy, because of one simple question: what could slow down the GOP march toward authoritarianism?

    Reminder that requiring an ID to vote is racist voter suppression. These actions do not exist in a vacuum, they are all connected.

    Shelby v Holder will go down as one of the worst Supreme Court decisions made in the history of the US. Obstacles on top of obstacles to voting does not sound like a properly functioning democracy.

    Kyrsten Sinema—a sitting senator earning a taxpayer-funded salary of $174,000—took a paid internship at a winery last summer. It wasn't even in her state.
