Just finished the first video in a series of tutorials we are making to help our customers get started at - How to adopt a UniFi device to a cloud controller:

Well that's a move in the right direction, and a completely different answer than Tom's

., why are you killing support for the platform, or more specifically not creating it for ? Why, in this age of virtualization is your company fleeing from established practices?

Really disappointed to see Protect is closed/proprietary hardware only. Seriously making me reconsider investing any more in the ecosystem as I like tinkering/running on my own server. Anyone have any other recommendations? Upgrading network/cam system.

Be Warned!! Ubiquiti has stated that you will not be able to self-install this, meaning you can't use a vm/your own hardware anymore.

The way you're handling the legitimate concerns about there not being a self-installed Protect solution is absolutely disgraceful. Locked forum threads, copy and pasting the same old answer, ignoring most of the raised issues … I will not recommend UBNT cams anymore.

After announced that UniFi Protect would not be offered for self install, everyone has been left wondering if this is a new direction for . Could , , and be next? Will Ubiquiti force customers to use only Ubiquiti's cloud or hardware in the future?

Looks like your customers are very vocal about this- and you have locked the place for feedback on it. :( When the market is saturated with crappy DVR solutions, closing this system doesn't make people want to move to UBNT.

you’re our only hope on saving Unifi professionals. abandoned large security cam customers by promising only security updates for Unifi NVR installations and only offering Unifi Protect to the soho scale CloudKey2s. Is unifi video going the way of the Airport?

Hey , will be dropping support for the Unifi SDN controller on Linux and Windows like Protect did? Asking because the it’s an easy assumption to make that Unifi is moving toward a closed system with the Protect announcement.

So the other day announced that they wouldn’t be releasing Protect for self install and the community was pretty pissed. After 7 pages of customer complaints, they locked the thread

The community isn't excited that your going to force the CK2 down our throats. This isn't the ubiquiti I've deployed and bragged about. I hope your guys stay true to your loyal fan base.

Very disappointed about news from today, “self install is not on the roadmap” for Protect. Thanks for letting us know about this. Your thoughts?

Hey Aaron, we always stay on the latest stable release of UniFi which is currently 5.8.30. As soon as 5.9.29 goes stable, is pushed to the repo here: about a week later (after testing it) we will push it out to everyone on
