#hootchat A2- Some social media tactics that could have been out dated is long paragraph text in pictures. Being a consumer more rather a entrepreneur flashy colors and interesting post grab the audiences rather than long text with bland pictures. Trends also have an effect. -
Grab your audience's attention with engaging copy and eye-catching visuals. Well said!

A2: Auto replies in comments. Too many times we get responses like, "great post!" or "love your content." Tell me something more specific you like. Be social, this is social media.
#hootchat -
Ah yes, great call out. Add some value with your comments, don't just copy and paste (or have a bot do it)

and bot messages too!

Very true. It can be a way to grow fake followers but you won't have any real engagement. Not valuable at all

a2 to be in social media platforms without being social. people are tired of ads and sales speech.
#hootchat -
The irony! Anti-social social media is a real problem. Using social platforms should be seen as an opportunity to engage with your audience, not an outlet to try and force sales.

A2: Focusing on quantity over quality. Whilst gaining a large following is great, I see more brands and individuals focus on providing value and retaining valuable engagement back
#HootChat -
That brings up a great point of having a loyal and active following over a large inactive one
#HootChat -
Exactly! I would rather have a smaller, yet more active following than a large following that doesn't engage with my content. It's like talking to a wall in that instance!

Q2: Trying to engage with celebs to get a RT or other action.
#HootChatpic.twitter.com/mZiCpqxsp5 -
Every once in a blue moon I see this done effectively. If you pick the right issue and the right celeb, it can make sense. The only example that jumps to my mind is Colin Mocherie boosting trans issues/fundraisers because he has a trans child.
-
Yes, good point. This has to be done very strategically.

A2: I have never been a fan of the "follow everyone to get followers" mentality. It makes you look like a bot instead of a real person. Let your following increase organically. It will show better engagement and connect you with people who care about your message.
#HootChatThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
