MEPs cannot propose laws in the EU parliament. Only the unelected Commission can draft legislation. Or repeal.https://twitter.com/britestoan/status/820981726759550977 …
Thanks for the generic link. Where does it say that MEPs can propose/draft/repeal legislation by working with Commissioners?

So MEPs can propose amendments subject to approval from President/Commission/etc? Where does the power really lie?
-
If the majority of the House is with the legislation, then the Commission would either have to accept or be given vote of no confidence.
-
How can the amendment gain majority support if is not even tabled for debate?
-
by working with people in the House and Commission. My exact point in the beginning.
-
"Parliament, acting by a majority of its members, may request the Commission to submit any appropriative legislation proposal."
-
just as MPs in Westminster will speak with their colleagues and gauge support before submitting a bill to the House.
-
MPs in Westminster may informally gauge support, but it is not a requirement to first win majority before proposing amendment.
