My brother is a semi retired teacher in a part of California that has become so gentrified that new teachers can't afford to live there. 
It’s also a GREAT message in Texas, which has cut state support for public education by 16.2% from 2008-2018. Now take this show on the road to states like Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina and others who slashed education funding while also cutting taxes.pic.twitter.com/WacgzLbvRT

As a teacher who started the year Bush and Kennedy gave us NCLB and watched in horror as Obama/Duncan remade education into a neoliberal nightmare with RttT, consider me skeptical the Harris plan will be anything other than more federal overreach/bureaucracy.
No doubt about that whatsoever. It does raise visibility on the issue of how underpaid teaching is because "women's work" always is.
Overdue. Certified teachers all have post-undergrad educations; equivalent to an MBA.
Joe n I taught our whole work career. lived check to check. sacrificed n gave all to our boys. We both had post-grad degrees. Received my PHD As a prof in College of Education my salary was significantly less than profs in male dominated colleges. Advised both sons NOT to teach
