Brb, stealing “a series of open-ended provocations accompanied by a whiff of mischief and a faint undercurrent of angst.“ for my biohttps://twitter.com/cskolding/status/1215389097293991944 …

All the journalists in my feed are shaking their heads and slowly backing away from me now, if not running

Where is the incentive to not try to find and publish more newsworthy events, never mind also not to create them?

That is to say: of course the news cycle is going to accelerate and keep accelerating

7/ But because of how this piece was written, and how it assumes an audience of similarly safe people, centering only upon their experiences and appears to avoid the uncomfortable true experiences of other people, it is another cause for pain.

6/ But you talk of your stress, of Jill and Maryanne and family dinners. You are only starting to come out of your bubble. I am guessing the piece was written this way to speak to other comfortable people and I understand why.

5/ This is as concise a definition of privilege. It is easy for you to access gratefulness in the face of other’s pain and suffering to the extent that it is elided and when expressed, not at hand. Yes you are raising money to fund lawyers for children, and thank you.

4/ “Jill’s grinding her teeth in her sleep” and “Maryanne’s holiday meals have become an acrimonious battlefield.” While children continue to be separated from caregivers, and die. While anti-Semite and racist attacks continue and are encouraged.

3/ I’m glad the writer discovered this. “Don’t criticize or punish the behavior you wish to see” and all. And yet the writer fails to mention in their examples of ill effects of the president (a weaselly euphemism if ever) and perhaps out of naïveté, the harm others experience.

2/ The writer’s point is that they have found space to be grateful in their suffering: greater connection, involvement in civics and... standing up to racism.

1/ The central point of this WaPo editorial is sound (Stephen Colbert’s “It’s a gift to exist, and with existence comes suffering.”) The writer reflects on their own suffering: cynicism, grinding teeth, imploding marriages, more stress, less sleep.https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/02/02/i-wish-youd-never-happened-donald-trump-im-grateful-you-too/ …

Seems we talk about “Ethics” in Open Source licensing etc however we can never talk about ethics of accessibility and lack there of historically in projects, when will it ever be possible to have an Open Source Industry that puts access to all as the first fight still occurring?

When I hear the term “Culture” in technology I know your going to not be able to accomodate disability or have even care that my needs and others will be different, when I hear “Cultural Fit” I hear the reason how we got into such a mess in the first place fitting the “Clique”
