After a year of work, feedback, and iteration, very excited to be launching Readwise 1.0: the best way to remember your ebooks & articles 📚 We're now live (😱) on , and would love to hear what you think:

The rest of the points are 👌 I think it’s often optimal to do what most startups do, which is start with prices low and raise later on. would definitely not agree :)

I’m not actually sure point 1 is true 🤔 Raise prices: grandfather existing users in (user happiness++), start making more $$ with new users Lower prices: Can’t really keep existing users at higher price, so ARR drops considerably. Big hit for team morale.

Man, tiktok is absolutely wild. My friend posted a 7 second video a week ago. Last night it blew up: went from ~1000 views to 16 million views (and still going at about 1M/hour...) Insane. Is there any other platform where you can get _that_ much exposure so quickly?

Reject dogmatic, limiting rules like this. Raise/build/sell in whatever order is best for your company. Like jeez it’s already hard enough man

The best book I read in 2019 was the same best book I read in 2018. What a complete abject failure on my part. Someone please recommend me books/articles capable of completely fucking my worldview up in 2020.

I wrote a blog post about the concept of 'Resurfacing as a Service'. It is about apps like and that can access our digital memorabilia and resurface them into our daily lives.

Your product can have none of these, and still be hugely successful. People don't try new products because of individual features, they try them to solve their problems.

Actually this entire thread is a list of things people say they want but don't actually value

Apparently unpopular opinion: if your product needs dark mode for people to try it... you've got bigger problems.

Here is my recommendation: do the opposite. Embrace the tsundoku. Don't let this dude guilt you into turning books into homework.

Most people reading this will just add “disinterested obsession” to their list of PGisms, alongside “do things that dont scale” and “be relentlessly resourceful”, then move on. But I think that’s doing it an injustice. This is perhaps PG’s most important essay to date.
