    First tech conference I attended? MongoSF 2012. I thought I was going to be backend dev for a long time too. I remember my favorite talk was by about keeping your data safe.

    First time I ever presented at a conference? Believe it or not, it was an evolutionary biology conference in Portland in 2010. I thought for a long time I was going to be a computational biologist.
