2019 was a big year with 4 of my PhD students graduating. Last week submitted her beautiful thesis, & now I’m deep in the final read of thesis. Yay! Postgrad supervision is so rewarding, but sometimes (esp. on hot summer nights) a bit of self-care is needed 😜

Listen carefully & you may hear the birds chirping in my first (way too long) section. The house was crazy with children & visiting family noises pre-xmas (my home office no escape) so had to step outside to get a little peace. I recorded my part sitting under the washing line 😜

Thanks to Somatic Podcast for this piece on our recent book on new materialisms and the moving body. They did a great job of bringing together editors and (some) author voices to discuss contributions, provocations and future directions. Listen here:

Working off-campus for a few more days in a remote location and needing to make some phone calls... this is the only spot I get cell reception!

So many thoughts on this... and wondering how they might (and hopefully they won’t) police athlete use of social media for political purposes during the games?

This photo, these words, this horrific reality 💔 To my Australian friends and colleagues, if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know... seriously... what can I do to help?

My partner and son featured in the local newspaper yesterday. ‘Knowledge is power’... behind every good coastal scientist is a sociologist 😜

Hey world, so this is happening in Australia & we all need to stop, read, listen & feel this fully. A great read on who is responsible... all of us. So what happens next? Do we all care enough to imagine new acts of courage, politics & activism? Thanks for sharing
