It's been interesting to watch 's personal Iowa coverage -- which amounts to "A couple are a bit old, but any one of them would make a good president" and realize how bizarrely absent those sorts of opinions are on Twitter compared to on the ground among voters.

I probably pick on the Bernie wing too much, but I am interested professionally in conspiracy and conspiracy adjacent culture and this is what it looks like. "Why is the media hiding these facts I have learned from the media and am now shouting from my media platform?"

I'll also say I met Kerry at a fundraising BBQ in 2008, and the thing people don't get about Kerry is in person he's not wooden at all. In fact, when you talk to him, you feel like no one has ever listened to you as deeply as he is listening to you. It's honestly weird.

FWIW Kerry overperformed expectations in 2004 and would have made a better 2020 candidate than Biden (if you had to do the old white guy thing)

Deriding anti-discrimination efforts as insincere virtue signaling by arrogant elites is at the heart of "conservative politics." Nixon swept the South with it. Tucker Carlson and Rush Limbaugh built careers on it. It is the hammer of the Republican toolbox. Why are you using it?

After gettting to see a bunch of campaign events in Iowa, in true Twitter fashion I have doubled down on my original belief: any one of these candidates would make a good President, and I hope after the primaries we can all come together around them!

I don't often get the flu, but when I do I insist to my wife Nicole for three days that's "Ittin notta flu, jussa a cold" while making increasingly bizarre fever-ridden decisions

In 1968, the watchword was ideology. They said, “get on your knees and you will believe.” Now, it’s disinformation. How does reducing all of society’s problems to “disinformation” lessen our ability to see who benefits from the hypersocial circulation of elite perspectives?

The ease with which otherwise smart people are manipulated by info ops never ceases to astound me.

As an English literature major I really appreciate Klobuchar’s commitment to using “sports marketing” as her example of useless degrees for a change

The thing is, I think a lot of the time we think the narrowness of student writing is a sign of their *thinking*, but most of the time it's a downstream problem from their process of *discovery*. Get them to zoom out a bit, it changes everything.

It's honestly bizarre. When we matched pre/post I seriously got a little worried we might have made a mistake.

A typical shift will be from a students saying "This doesn't sound believable b/c gun owners don't care" to saying "The tweet is based of a survey of gun owners that might be biased (coming from a liberal org) but its results are similar to most other surveys on the issue."

This is one of the things that amazes me as well -- the students go from very rigid thinking to these very nuanced treatments that literally do not sound like the same students at all.

Is there a reason that every scene in a Harlan Coben series has to be filmed like it rained 10 minutes ago?

Folks, the cutoff on the DNC debates is 10% (!!) No one wants Bloomberg but if by the next debate he has 10% of the votes based on TV ads, you want him held accountable on a stage. 10% is a high number!

Not sure if it's a cold or the ? shows how you can tell the difference:

Is it a cold or a flu?

I appreciate this note but what we also need to recognize is that for those who are using these preprints for conspiracy ... this is seen as just more evidence of a cover up.

It is not groundbreaking to say george wallace wasn't wrong about every single thing. we understand that. but we decided that his racism was so virulent, so disgusting, so aggressive, that we were going to put him in the no column. WHY are we doing this bullshit
