Italy (60M) has *more than double* #COVID19 deaths than China (1.3B) and growing.
China 2 deaths per 1M population. Italy 136.
China 56 confirmed cases per 1M population. Italy 1333 and growing.
And it took China by surprise.
But now the problem is no longer China. Rich democracies are responding poorly, without proper coordination. The measures deployed are creating longterm problems across domains. It's a mess.

Especially America, which was sadly foreseeable. The consequences of interdependence are going to challenge globalisation and its proponents, especially if America suffers huge numbers of Covid-19 deaths. Are we witnessing the death of neoliberalism too? Any thoughts?

Predictions are difficult. Is the whole concept under huge strain? Sure. Are "we" sober enough to learn the lessons? Not so sure. I do expect a significant attenuation in outsourcing. And a serious questioning of current decision making. Discussion is already under way...
