"Mantra" has been adopted and bastardized in many colloquial languages - eventually to express a debased, negative, derogative meaning. Same with "guru" and "zen" and "nirvana", along with buddha statues for massage rooms and gardens...

Agreed. I'm curious about your thoughts on not losing the power of mantra and chanting in the modern age, particularly in their form and practice. Do you think that they should remain as they have, or is it needed or possible to create new mantras/forms?

Yeah, I suspect it will be a combination of both, but it's too early. Here I'm merely bemoaning the twisting of words that point to something deep and true. Twitter is good for complaining:)
