i remain convinced that whiteboard interviews are little more than developer hazing. they demonstrate nothing of value or import about the candidate other than “can successfully memorize ‘cracking the coding interview.’”

To be fair, Google test engineers rarely write test automation. Or if it was an SET role, it's a full dev role. The interviews still suck though.
It is ridiculous to have to study to pass a job interview. It's meant to assess what you can already do.
