Working 70 hours a week while the corporation instituted quarterly hiring freezes to cut costs and juice its earnings numbers. Then being told I would be forcibly moved from hourly to commission which cut my pay by A LOT bc no more overtime pay, but still overtime hours.

My parents had paid off their mortgage and home equity loans. Then my mom got cancer. She’s slowly liquidating all the retirement she spent 20 years scraping together while my blue-collar dad works 70 hours a week at his UCFW job—and they don’t see how things could ever change.

Used to stock shelves at a grocery for $10/hr, nonstop work, punishing hours, toxic/abusive bosses. Then a friend got me a union job that pays double for half the effort. Showed me that the hardest workers get the least reward, and the highest paid do the least work.
