I wish the 2019 SHA slave power panel had been recorded. I walked out after his--and I'm paraphrasing--"historians should not use the word, 'racist,' when discussing the 19th C. because it is anachronistic" comment/question. I wish I knew how--if at all--the panel responded.

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but why in other countries and not the US? Like does he think there’s a better case against non-US scholars???

Other countries have different libel standards. He cannot go after USian academics who critique (e.g. yours truly) but he can threaten junior people in other countries.
