    What a coincidence. Today, I talked with students in my “democratization” class about the Sewol ferry disaster, “Spring Day” & blacklists under Park. I heard they had donated 100 million won, but wasn’t aware they visited the victims’ families in 2014. So courageous.

    Important to note this happened "in 2014," during the Park Geun-hye administration which was engaged in a witch hunt against the Sewol victims' families and blacklisting celebrities that it considered left-leaning.

    In my latest publication, I argue that West Germany actually generated a financial SURPLUS from unification, not a LOSS as the dominant narrative tells us. I'd say this is relevant for Korea, or at least for the Korean unification debate and public opinion.
