I totally agree. For Palaeolithic Archaelogy e.g. the number of women holding full professorship chairs tends towards zero. Irrespective of gender imbalance, academic staff is employed via non-permanent contracts and in high dependency on the few (mainly male) permanent profs.

I would say yes to this. It's true. A lot of power in the hands of a few professors, many benevolent, a few despotic, 80% men. However ... (1/2)

(2/2) it does at least mean that the power is held by intellectuals (profs, who teach & research), rather than middle management/HR rationalisers/PR corporate types, as in e.g. the UK. Small mercies, etc.

I agree. German Academia is racist, sexist and classist. The role of certain networks like e. g. fraternities has not been emphasized enough yet on Twitter in that context imho.
