    Tomorrow marks ’s 1500th day behind bars. Like many others he’s imprisoned on trumped-up charges simply because he spoke his mind. And now Covid-19 threatens the prison he and scores of others are kept in.

    I learned of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the prison my client Ahmet Altan is kept. I don’t know where we’ll end up with the aloofness of the courts before which Altan’s file is waiting to be ruled on. I urge legal authorities to act now to avoid grim consequences.
