We know a few things about new onset after giving birth but how does pregnancy affect the course of established OCD? Sadly very little is known. This masters project seems to have done some brilliant phenomenological work in 5 patients.

Very comprehensive meta-analysis of structural + functional alterations & their potential overlap during executive/emotional processing in , by a pan-european collaboration. Results reinforce existing models with some very interesting exceptions.

Here is another slide with a sub-analysis after doubling the SCOFF cut-off. We did it to reduce any overestimation bias. SCOFF may be brief & easy to use but EDE-Q is more robust as a screening questionnaire. Glad this new paper addresses an important limitation of our study.

Quick slide to compare the data and methods between what we reported earlier and this study. Similar results despite using different methodologies, replication level ! Link to our 2015 study

This new norwegian study seems to replicate the findings we reported in our 2015 paper. Take home message from both - clinicians should be alert to undiagnosed ED symptoms in female patients with OCD.

Reading CT scans is incredibly hard. I have no doubt that with sufficient training data, deep learning will eventually be better at it than trained specialists.

creates unwanted thoughts, not just for the person but also for the society. We in society and systems can choose to look away in horror, a choice never available to the sufferer... Compassion is not optional here, it should be unconditional.

Before triggering that safeguarding referral for a patient with those reprehensible intrusive thoughts, please take a second to imagine what it is like listening to the same horrible thoughts, on repeat, all the time, against your will... as that is the life OCD makes you live.
