I ❤️ working in security because the fiercest competitors can still collaborate & find common cause in protecting people & stopping abuse.

Oh no. Spammers have discovered Google drive sharing as a channel. 😣 How do I turn it off?

It used to be hard and dangerous to drive a friend's car. That's how different they could be. Not anymore. You'll be able to drive my car almost instantly regardless of make/model. 2FA should be that ergonomic.

Protip: If you're stuck on a coding issue, sleep on it. That way when you wake up and try to fix it and it's still broken, at least you got some sleep.

Appears Apple not e2e encrypting iCloud backups has more to do with customers frequently forgetting their passwords vs. FBI request. This is related to why user-controller crypto wallets haven’t found mainstream appeal. People want a password reset button.

One last thing: it's clear that Apple is trying to do the right thing and the WebKit folks we've interacted with care deeply about privacy. We hope that these results will help Safari & guide other browser vendors in the long run. [fin]

The Accessibility Program at Facebook is looking for a Product Manager to work with us on App- and Company- wide initiatives. If you're a Product Manager and you'd like to work with the best team in the industry (in my opinion) on some the most important problems, well, DM me :)

Somewhere between the regulatory captured, frozen trainwreck of taxi service, and workers going to their retail jobs on spec in case they might be assigned hours, are systems that work. These systems require work to design, identify, govern. They do not emerge from philosophy.

Will an Android 10 device with fingerprint reader + Android Keystore (e.g. Pixel 1) be exposed to WebAuthn in Chrome as supporting residentKey credentials?

Or is a PIN only required for a residentKey capable authenticator that isn’t also userVerification capable?

Do I understand correctly that a “cold start” login without entering a username can happen in zero or one click with a password credential saved in SmartLock, but for a webAuthN residentKey fingerprint sensor login the person must set up, remember and enter a PIN code?

Amazing! Thank you to everyone who worked on bringing this to WebKit. I hope we’ll see platform authenticators with Touch/FaceID soon!

WTF . Just got a notification that a “device health check” recommends a restart of my phone. Clicking leads to a 5G data plan upsell! And beyond that was this nonsense. Is my Pixel running Win95 and I didn’t know it?
