I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, assume they're sincere when they state they're really only against abuses of CoC's and not the fundamental concept of treating trans people as human, etc. Depressing how often this turns out to be a smokescreen.

Because you haven't thrown up any extreme red flags like morlock has. It's not that I assume everyone who disagrees with CoC's based on meta level principles is bad, just that a nonzero amount of people use meta level objections to mask sketchy object level beliefs.

I don't want to read too much into what I think are purposefully vague statements, so: I think CoC's are very flawed but still necessary, similar to some sort of laws, some sort of prison system, etc. I'm not a fan of many existing CoC's, especially the 'no reverse ism' ones
