It seemed to me like you two never really joined issue. He's concerned about the Maoist restrictions of far-out CoC's, you seemed to be asserting that moderately-drafted CoC's could be to the good & hadn't materialized in bad consequences for projects like Rust. Not inconsistent.

maybe, but I consider the above quoted tweet to be strong evidence that his 'concerns' are really just a smokescreen for much further right beliefs
-
but yeah, nothing inconsistent assuming he was replying in good faith. I'm not sure I can justify that assumption, though

I'm reading it as 'this act by the Nazis makes me like them more', which I can't really see any reasonable way to defend
-
The joke works by positing destroying X and Y (normal things) could make you like something indefensible (Nazis), thus conveying hyperbolically that you really hate X and Y. The joke only works if Nazis are indefensible.

Wut? The first sentence follows a joke pattern, as in, "what's that you say? X? [funny/surprising observation about X.]" It reads like standard-fare edgelord humor to me.

Honestly igdi
-
'this action that the third reich took as a precursor to genocide makes me like them more' is, uh, a bad take
-
Oh I meant that as an expression of my disgust. I get what he is about. Some bigot who writes books about space. You're supposed to grow out of that stuff.
-
Nobody ever says the word "bigot" online but it's applicable to so many people! I wonder what the deal is with that.
-
there's a lot of words like that. like 'rude'! i say 'rude' and ppl flip their shit like u, u said a rude thing abt space books
-
I absolutely did, but rude != inaccurate
-
not u. i meant mr microbeads
-

I've had him muted forever and oh my GOD every mute/block I give to cryptolibertarians makes Twitter 10x better.
-
Also his book was terrible.
-
That's obviously unrelated but like...it was just...so...bad...
-
there were multiple chapters that literally had no narrative purpose except to point out how his outgroup (poly hackerspace types) are incompetent cuckolds. I read it because of the Ken MacLeod rec, but it very much did not pass the ideological turing test in several dimensions
