We know this from the
#TubbsFire — parked at our door, ready to go. Lived this 7 days before evacuating to Paradise, ironically.pic.twitter.com/t1yBRaOChz

#TubbsFire still has me packed and ready for the most part, 13 months later -
Girl, I should take a photo of the bags still stuffed with my family portraits & wall photos under my bed. I still haven’t removed them from the bags & put them back.

-
Same with my parents. They live on Annadel border. So weird to go over there, the last year all our family photos have been off the wall in boxes behind a couch with our photo albums and other sentimentals ready to go. I think many people are still living like this

These photos are from up there before evacuation. We drove to check on a friend’s home who was out of town—pic.twitter.com/CmBUz9Wmhb

This is why I love twitter! Thats my parents’ street
They live at the end of the Pepperwood cul de sac. -
Holy crap! I love it up there so much. And the park! Hello

Agreed. No need to hang around. This fire has been like a freight train from the get go. Get out of its way. Sooner than later
-
thats my mentality. ive had go-bags packed for 13 months (to the day!)- sitting around waiting for an evac order is far more stressful than preemptively having your papers/prescrips/pets/pictures in order and a safe place to breathe
-
Me too. Really never unpacked from last year.
-
still have my nintendo 64 in the trunk of my car!!

you never realize whats “important” to you until youre evacuating and blindly grabbing sentimental stuff. aaand for me that was mario kart apparently!

I would too. I’m a ‘15 valley fire victim. East and south Chico people should be packing and probably leaving.
-
agreed. and im so sorry. i work in calistoga with many many valley fire victims. and now have to drive the tubbs fire route every day to work from SR. experiences like ours teach us how to act, not wait.

Me too. We left Middletown during the 2015 fire and people were sitting on lawn chairs watching the flames on the hill. 2 hours later it burned straight through town and out another 15 miles. No one ever expected it.

Vast majority of all the shelters in place are in Chico too. It would be utter chaos but it’s getting so late it’s worrisome. However calfire reporting winds light in Chico so that helps. It’s to the south it’s worse.
