This thread is essentially my entire lifetime work experience. Healthcare was lean-staffed into permanent crisis mode, hit a REAL crisis, and now what? Now it feels like nothing was learned and we're still trying to manage by "trimming the fat" off a goddamn skeleton.

I feel like a lot of corporate end-times staffing (not just Twitter) looks like this: some paper pusher sees what “all hands on deck” looks like in an emergency and thinks, “what the hell, why aren’t they working like that all the time.”

This is a great way for nobody to ever tell you you're about to step into a pit of snakes.

NEW: Employees who have criticized Elon Musk in Twitter’s Slack channels were fired overnight over email. “We regret to inform you that your employment is terminated immediately,” they’re being told over email. “Your recent behavior has violated company policy.”

A lot of these women sell the idea that tradw1fery IS "freedom" for them because they enjoy cooking, cleaning, etc. Good for you, Janet, but the men in this space aren't relegating you to the kitchen because they think you're happier there. They think its where you BELONG.

Its a fantasy that sells the idea of being loved, cherished, and taken care of in exchange for taking care of someone in turn. But honestly I think a lot of people need to come to terms with the idea that being independent and free is better than being "cherished"

I don't know why I've been thinking about the renewed spread of tradw1fe propaganda this Tuesday morning but I have been. Its a stupid, dangerous idea but on some level I do understand how it could get its hooks into people, especially young women.

It's so unbelievably funny that apparently Sammy was personally handling FTX's "multi-billion dollar" finances by eyeballing account balances.

5) The full story here is one I'm still fleshing out every detail of, but as a very high level, I fucked up twice. The first time, a poor internal labeling of bank-related accounts meant that I was substantially off on my sense of users' margin. I thought it was way lower.

A lot of crypto pumpers cope by saying “every scam that fails makes the space more honest” but very little has changed since MtGOX and every exchange is run like this

2) I'm really sorry, again, that we ended up here. Hopefully things can find a way to recover. Hopefully this can bring some amount of transparency, trust, and governance to them. Ultimately hopefully it can be better for customers.

"I’m very skeptical of books. I don’t want to say no book is ever worth reading, but I actually do believe something pretty close to that." lithub.com/crypto-nerd-sa

This, from an interview with Sam Bankman-Fried (whose crypto exchange has just imploded) is very funny. That loser Tolstoy. Think of the time he could have saved.

El*n woke up this morning and decided to snarkily reply to a Senator who had legit concerns about misinformation on the website he owned... But it just so happens to be a Senator with oversight on subcommittees that *checks notes* pertains to all of his 3 major companies.

In my view, the five most aggressively dishonest 2020 election deniers who were on the ballot for key state offices were Arizona’s Kari Lake and Mark Finchem, Pennsylvania’s Doug Mastriano, Nevada’s Jim Marchant and Michigan’s Kristina Karamo. All of them have been defeated.

The narrative throughline of Sangku starting the episode with a vignette of having to stand up against the force of the ocean and then ending the episode having to tank the largest team in the tournament is not lost on me and is very good.

Though we joke about war oxen and pickup-mounted trebuchets and Second Amendment rights to own a ballista, this thread is a reminder that lives his creed too:

Anyway @greg_doucette nearly got a call because the cops were mad I stopped to ask a Black woman if she and her child were ok because like 6 pigs were arresting the man they were with and it's cold and I offered to stay with them till their friends arrived to get them.

Early D&D actually loved setting up their Lose Conditions, I remember that the Tomb of Horrors had several rooms that a creative party probably could have worked around except for the adventure literally stating "no, these rooms are inescapable and the PC is doomed."
