    Anyone ISO a constitutional justification for citizens owning enriched uranium? I think I found one....

    The 2nd amendment was ratified so the American public can defend themselves against government tyranny. This inherent right means the public should have access to all the same weapons as the military. Anyone who says differently does not support the 2A. They support tyranny.

    I think it will be a mistake if the Dems make the Supreme Court politics narrowly about Roe v Wade. They need to make this moment about democracy itself—subsume reproductive choice under a mantle of democratic legitimacy and popular sovereignty.

    One possibility is meet ups for unionized faculty from public universities to discuss ways forward. Our collective bargaining rights have been demolished today

    I honestly think this year’s meeting has to be more than the presentation of research as usual. I don’t know what, exactly, but a standard meeting in non-standard time seems professionally unethical for the AMERICAN Political Science Association.

    Roberts, Kennedy, Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch don't deserve any credit for purporting to "overrule" Korematsu in the course of affirming Trump's —a thread on why that's a self-serving and disingenuous gimmick.

    Trumpism is an erosion of democratic norms, is an erosion of democratic institutions. We are in the midst of crisis.

    Not only do unions reduce inequality and make life better for workers -- they are also vital to democracy. Unions provide a forum for people to develop leadership skills, organizing talents, and small-d democratic knowledge that have benefits far beyond the workplace.

    This first part (“Quit trying to make us feel teary-eyed”) reminds me of what Arlie Hochschild found in Strangers in Their Own Land: many Tea Party (and now Trump) folks see government/media as coercing emotions to manipulate policies — and they don’t like it.

    This is powerful but does't work for me. It implies there are protective, almost maternal, spaces for these children. In reality, those children have been imprisoned and abused under the guise of reasserting American (white) power. Lady Liberty isn't protecting any of them.
