I love Rockin' Jelly Bean but I need to inform ppl who are being introduced to his work via Street Fighter that this is actually VERY tame for him 😂 I'm pretty sure he straight up gave Mika aggressive cameltoe in the last official SF piece he did lmao
Some ppl really need to chill though on the ship wars, beyond the fact that it's just a single panel without any actual context, ultimately these are fictional characters, it's not that serious 😭 Generally I wish folks would stop getting Big Mad over ships please I'm beggin
loooool I just want to put it out there that I don't personally ship these two (nothing against ppl who do), I just work in comics, sometimes get paid to draw things, and every now and then post sneaky little contextless snapshots here before projects are out in the wild in full.
Really good response thread to mine irt TOTK, what technological advancement can actually mean, and why it is that some game studios can repeatedly put out 10/10 games while others languish:
Springboarding off of this: This is 100% accurate, but also advancements in graphical capability isn't just "the number goes up", but also being able to get greater capability out of older technology, something that's been Nintendo's mantra since 1983. twitter.com/heyjenbartel/s…
My #Harlivy covers for DC PRIDE from 2021, 2022, and now 2023! Thank you to everyone who picked one (or all? 😂) of these up—thanks to you, they keep asking me to draw these two every year and it has been such a treat to get to do a new take on them each time ❤️🌿✨ Happy Pride!
lol sometimes I see responses to relatively benign tweets I've posted (like these ones) and they are just, so disproportionately angry about what I've said that it genuinely confuses me—then I go to their page and see that they're like, 19 years old and it makes complete sense.

And TOTK is just…. Completely new levels of fun. The kind of individualized experience every player can have because the game offers previously unimaginable levels of freedom and choice is truly mindblowing. Some ppl are playing Zelda, some are actually playing Starfox lol:
Like, I appreciate that games today can look and feel so realistic thanks to advancements in tech, but it feels like along the way, a lot of studios kind of prioritized taking advantage of better specs over focusing on introducing new gameplay mechanics that were actually *fun*—
So much of the evolution of video games has been tied to the evolution of technology—TOTK feels like a leap forward not in tech-related advancements like graphical fidelity or fps, but in actual *creative game design*. It’s not only open world, it’s open *solution*. I’m amazed 🙌
Worse—he wasn’t even some kind of artistic genius type who was cruel to his students bc of his singleminded pursuit of perfection; the cruelty WAS the whole entire point, he would openly gloat about making his students cry as if it was a badge of honor that he could crush them
My experience at SVA was so artistically traumatizing largely thanks to Tom Woodruff that even though now the school occasionally reaches out to try to highlight my career success, I ignore every request bc I do not want them using me as advertising in any way. That’s his legacy.
It’s embarrassing to admit that someone like him had this kind of power over so many of us who studied under him at SVA but the truth is, a lot of students actually DID drop out and/or gave up on pursuing art entirely bc of him. It’s fucked up that he was chair for *20 years*.
He was also abusive toward students in his illustration department—I was one of them. My sophomore year he told me I should just go ahead and drop out bc I’d never make it as an artist. Over a decade later, his words still contribute to my own ongoing severe impostor syndrome.
Thomas Woodruff sneered at, neglected, and often outright abused the students in the SVA Cartooning department he chaired. Then he figured out he could make a "visual opera" about a "feral child" (brown, of course) and charge $75, and he's nominated for four Eisners.
Ahhhh looks like I've been nominated for Best Cover Artist for my run on She-Hulk! 😭💚 It's been such a treat to get to draw her on this many covers (and corner boxes..!) Thank you and huge congratulations to all my fellow Eisner nominees this year!
Billionaire CEOs and single-celled organisms are equally predictable in their behavior, tbh it's a waste of time to even be mad about it—but the last thing we should do is let them convince us that they're capable of regulating themselves; centuries of history prove otherwise.

Like, the game runs exactly as well as Nintendo promised it would. They set expectations, they delivered. I can't help you if what you're actually mad about is the hardware limitations of an old handheld. It honestly seems like your hobby isn't actually gaming, it's just bitching
The game literally runs at a fairly stable 30fps with drops to about 24fps when the screen gets busy, ppl are reporting having played 100 hours with literally ZERO bugs which is a level of polish most AAA titles—even console exclusives, do not release with https://twitter.com/PDefrt35274/status/1657209381816090627?s=20…
Good art direction and solid game design > high frame rate, this is just facts 🤷🏻♀️ it’d be great to have all 3, but if I can only pick 2 I’m definitely not gonna fixate on the one that objectively matters the least
People on social media get mad when you as much as breath within earshot.
I think you're pretty spot on with this whole thing.
Different expectation make a lot of difference in reception.
And honestly seeing totk in motion it looks fantastic purely on aesthetics alone.
