I find it ironic we went from beautiful colourful intricate UI to flat empty white screens at the same time our displays increased massively in quality and colour gambit.pic.twitter.com/YMAdwB7U9w

Eli, I hope you googled confirmation bias before asking that questionhttps://twitter.com/heyhaigh/status/1102076816100081665?s=19 …
"the tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one's existing beliefs or theories..." Let's keep dancing in circles.
So all evidence you don't like is dismissed as confirmation bias? (Setting aside the fact a UI that is actually easily distinguishable being easier to use should be self evident and completely unsurprising)
I'm familiar with the report and I agree with the findings.
Then what are you trying to accomplish by labeling it confirmation bias?
I'd be seriously concerned if this colour palette and design required a massive amount of research and iteration. I'm not saying anyone should go back to iOS 6, just that -- where we are now, apps are just giant white panes with some loosely assorted bits of UI.pic.twitter.com/YA2FvwuBU0
There are benefits to drop shadows, gradients and shiny buttons, when done right. Watching regular people try to figure out what's a button versus what's just static text is depressing.
Google “confirmation bias” next when you’re done
I like how you just dismiss a study conducted by a reputable firm (Nielsen) by complaining that it must be wrong because -uh- must be confirmation bias!https://www.nngroup.com/articles/flat-ui-less-attention-cause-uncertainty/ …
It also makes perfect intuitive sense that of course they’ll find it easier and quicker to use a UI where they can easily identify the UI elements, than one where a button is just difficultly coloured text.
If Apple switched back to skeuomorphism with a Jony Ive video promoting its virtues you'd do a 180 so fast...
Why was skeuomorphic design apart of the Mac then?
