I wonder why the iOS sandbox omits certain sandbox checks if code is signed by Blizzard Entertainment Inc.

@i0n1c It does not. This path is for the access() call, not for the actual enforcement.

@hey_pom yes for the access() syscall family the sandbox check is not performed for whatever reason

@i0n1c that's right. But it doesn't mean they can execute, it means we make them believe they could.

@hey_pom @i0n1c I'm kind of an idiot so forgive me, but why would they need to 'believe' they could execute? This is a bug workaround, or…?

. @cabel @hey_pom @i0n1c Apple people probably can't respond, but they can not "break" apps that are very popular even if dev's fault.

@chronic @cabel @hey_pom what exactly stops Apple from pulling the app and demanding a fixed update? Blizzard's size?

@i0n1c @cabel that's my guess, if app is too popular and Apple would unfairly get the blame for crashes right after OS updates.

@chronic @cabel this check is in there for a while. Time enough to ask Blizzard to fix

@i0n1c @cabel enterprise moves SLOW. took a very big co a few weeks to fix their app which accepted invalid SSL certs + leaked PII.

@chronic @cabel yeah iOS 9 was released like 9 months ago?

@i0n1c @chronic I also think this is a bug workaround. Yes, big companies move super slow. I bet it doesn't bypass the sandbox entirely…?
