The shell script is far more concise, even if the regular expression in it isn't very readable/maintainable.

After rewriting my shell script in Python (to do it "the right way"), it's now twice as long and depends on two libraries. Sure, it avoids the 380-char regex I made, but I still had to kludge the HTML to make it parse correctly (unless I wanted to add lxml as another dependency).

Looks like there's a public PoC for the CryptoAPI vulnerability (CVE-2020-0601):https://github.com/kudelskisecurity/chainoffools …

Anyone in Wellington looking for a flat or have a room available? Send me a message. I'll either need more flatmates or somewhere to move to

actually, the script itself is quite simple, it's just the one sed command that extracts and formats data from pages that's complex

this was inspired by an increasingly complex shell script that I'm currently writing to parse data from a website

I wrote a script to invert the luminosity of Wireshark packets, making it look better with dark themes. Export the existing colours with View > Coloring Rules > Export, run the script to modify the colours, import the new colours, and move them to the top. https://gist.github.com/hexdefined/ff0566c94a7aa8ff4eb2589f57d08813 …pic.twitter.com/SvCNP58ExJ

I'm downloading a large file from a slow server. So far I've: - taken a shower - written a stopwatch in bash that's accurate to the millisecond to measure exactly how slow the download is

If you're going to run your own VPN server, Algo is good: https://github.com/trailofbits/algo … (but make sure you keep your server secure)

So this is in the news now, and NordVPN and TorGuard have both released official statements. I see a lot of people are asking which VPN service to use instead. This is a good read: https://gist.github.com/joepie91/5a9909939e6ce7d09e29 … Also a good thread:https://mobile.twitter.com/CiPHPerCoder/status/1186298282676498433 …

I've also confirmed that that TorGuard was compromised, this TLS certificate for *.torguardvpnaccess.com was leaked: https://crt.sh/?id=241227763 (expired Oct 2018). There's also an OpenVPN server key. (Again, someone gained root access on the server)

I should probably make it clear that whoever compromised NordVPN had root access to a container server, allowing full control of everything in it (presumably including the ability to view and tamper with all network traffic going through it). Why was this never detected?
