I think 2019 was a great year on the podcast. Here are some highlights. First, I created 17 episodes that I filled with my heart and soul. I tried to create a space of intimacy and connection that is not just about cinema but also about life and feelings.

In January, I explored two of my favorite female coming-of-age stories: Nancy Savoca's DOGFIGHT (1991) and Patricia Cardoso's REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES (2002). I shared stories from my own childhood, as well as my struggles with body image and being working class.pic.twitter.com/P4Z3pCzqOR

In March, I finally talked about one of the most haunting and formative films of my life: Jane Campion's THE PIANO (1993). I looked at its representation of female sexuality and the oppression of women. I vividly detailed the first time I saw it and how deeply it affected me.pic.twitter.com/bJnJvA7bcs

In April, I focused on Julianne Moore's work with Todd Haynes, spotlighting SAFE (1995) and FAR FROM HEAVEN (2002). In the former episode, I opened up about living with chronic illness. In the latter, I touched on women's films and the work of Douglas Sirk.pic.twitter.com/90pm3sLa5J

In May, I appeared on the @thecompletepod to discuss grief, loss, and politics in Krzysztof Kieślowski's NO END (1985). It was a very enriching and positive experience. http://www.25thframemedia.com/2019/05/23/the-complete-kieslowski-7-no-end/ …pic.twitter.com/jiVYValp8C

In May, I also talked about two of my favorite French documentaries: Nicolas Philibert's TO BE AND TO HAVE (2002) and Agnès Varda’s THE GLEANERS AND I (2000). With Philibert's film I talked about my love of school while with Varda's I touched on wastefulness & the marginalized.pic.twitter.com/vvtwjkt1JJ

In June, I used cinema as a way to cope with the anniversary of my father's death and also his birthday. I bared my soul in episodes about Pablo Larrain’s JACKIE (2016) and Krzysztof Kieslowski’s THREE COLORS: BLUE (1993). Both films were comforting and healing for me.pic.twitter.com/nhKuNYigNG

In July, I explored two films that focused on women living on the margins of society and struggling to survive: Dardenne brothers' TWO DAYS, ONE NIGHT (2014) and Kelly Reichardt's WENDY AND LUCY (2008). Michelle Williams and Marion Cotillard give masterful performances.pic.twitter.com/5WchNs0sdi

Finally, in August I shared my love of Italian Neorealism in my episodes on Vittorio De Sica's UMBERTO D. (1952) and Roberto Rossellini's JOURNEY TO ITALY (1954). The latter is one of my personal favorites I've ever done and might soon be my most popular episode!pic.twitter.com/pwKxc1MM44

2019 has been a packed year! Thank you to those who listened to some or all of these episodes. I've been doing the podcast for three years now. I try to talk about cinema in a personal, nuanced, and intimate way. I want to show how films shape our lives and become part of us.

I'm proud of the work I produced in 2019, and I will continue to stay true to myself and create episodes about films that resonate with me. I will continue to share my story and my life through the podcast. I hope you'll listen and find something of value in what I offer.

In 2020, I plan to keep exploring my memories, my feelings, and the films that shaped me. I'm already researching and planning out the movies I'll cover. They include gay and lesbian love stories, classic Hollywood masterpieces, & my favorite film of the 21st century so far!
